The government has been too slow when it comes to tackling the energy crisis. Even with the prime minister’s new plans to freeze our energy bills, people in around 6 million homes across the UK will still go into this winter struggling to afford them. We need your help to take urgent action.
With the help of people like you, we’re putting pressure on the government and building a strong movement that’ll inspire real change. We’ve launched a campaign to slash our energy bills once and for all. And we’ll be bringing local communities together to prepare for key national moments – such as the next general election – to ensure those in power are fighting for both warm homes and our planet.
But we can’t do it alone. Join us today and you’ll become part of an unstoppable movement of incredible people campaigning to keep everyone warm this winter.
The energy crisis and climate change
As well as a cost-of-living crisis, we’re also facing a climate emergency. But how are the two linked? Well, heating our homes, buildings and water is now responsible for almost 20% of UK climate emissions. Our dependence on expensive gas is therefore a crisis for both people and planet. Unless we transform our leaky homes and failed energy system once and for all, millions will continue to suffer from the energy crisis in the UK, and millions more from the ever-worsening climate crisis worldwide.
The solutions we’re fighting for
Even more emergency financial support to help those struggling with their energy bills as we head into winter, and stop them having to make an impossible choice between heating and eating.
A free, government-funded, street-by-street insulation programme, starting in the areas hit hardest by the energy crisis. This would provide a simple but incredibly effective way to keep our homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer, bringing down both energy bills and climate emissions.
Transforming our energy system to lower bills, and cutting emissions by making the most of the UK's huge potential for cheap, clean renewable energy like wind and solar power.
