Global support for Lancashire's fight against fracking - send your message
Messages of support are flooding in from around the world for the people of Lancashire in their fight against fracking.
Last June, Lancashire County Council rejected two fracking applications. Now dirty fracking company Cuadrilla is appealing against those decisions. The Government has said that Ministers in Westminster, not the council, will now make the final decision.
On 8 Feb a public hearing will begin. This is where evidence will be heard on whether Lancashire’s decision should be respected or overturned by politicians in Westminster. We don’t think David Cameron should allow Lancashire’s democratic decision to be overturned.
Below are just a few of the messages of support against fracking.
From Balcombe to Lancashire with love
At Balcombe, it all started when we heard that an oil and gas company was coming to our tiny village, to drill, frack and flare. We soon realised we didn't want this. And the more we found out, the more we realised we wouldn't wish it on others either. Along the steep learning curve of the last three years, we have awakened from our innocent slumber. We have discovered much about politics and the way power works.
This fight is about communities having a voice. But we have come to understand that ultimately we are also fighting to prevent climate change. Investing in fracking will leave a horrific legacy for all of our children. G7 leaders have just pledged to wean us off fossil fuels. Fracking flies in the face of their promises. Our government listens only to oil and gas industry lobbyists, and seems to care only about their profits. Instead, our leaders could be investing enthusiastically in energy conservation, in renewables - as we have begun to do in our small local way with RepowerBalcombe.
Our fight against Cuadrilla is for you too, today and onwards, for as long as it takes. We stand with you, Lancashire.
The No Fracking in Balcombe Society
Hi everybody, sorry I won't be able to appear in person on the 23 June, but I will definitely be there with you in spirit. Good luck and have a wonderful day.
To all our friends in the UK opposing fracking: Please do not let horizontal hydrofracking destroy your air and water as it has in Ohio. For 4 years, the FreshWater Accountability Project has been working to protect our air and water from the huge, highly unregulated industry of fracking. Fracking is an awful, ugly industry. You do not want it. Thank you for doing what you are doing.
Good luck and all the best for 23 June - will be thinking of you all

I wish to give my support to the Preston Protest on 23 June. An old and wise adage advises us "When in doubt, don't." I think the voice of the public who are concerned about the long-term results of fracking, demands attention.
Dear Friends, Here in Victoria in Australia we have the same struggle on our hands. We are fighting to keep the unconventional gas industry out of our state.
So far we're winning. We currently have a moratorium on fracking and state inquiry. But we have a long way to go.
Wishing you the best in your campaign and a great turn out to your rally.
