The sun shines on Baildon

"11 by 11"; this was the aim of Baildon Friends of the Earth: they aimed to encourage 11 Baildon homes to install photovoltaic (PV) panels by 2011. By February 2011 this had already been achieved. Eleven Baildon homes with PV receive over 50% of their electricity free from the sun, and typically make an extra income of £900 per year by generating their own electricity from the roofs. They are saving about 11 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year for Baildon, thus reducing global warming. Baildon Parish Council supported this initiative to reduce CO2 emissions. If you want to know more and receive a leaflet about how to do this yourself, just email [email protected].

Since this news item was first published, we now know of 16 installations in Baildon (May 2011).
