Birmingham Friends of the Earth is the largest Friends of the Earth local group in the country, campaigning for environmental and social justice at a local, national and international level. We own our own building - the Warehouse - which has been the base for our campaigning for decades. We're owned and run by our members, and after a successful community share offer, the building is disabled accessible and is used by a wide range of groups that share our values.
We campaign on climate justice, including forced migration and a just transition from fossil fuels to renewables. We campaign for clean air, decent public transport, thriving nature, and a responsible approach to waste. We organise petitions, lobby politicians, hold public meetings, screen films, respond to consultations and act in solidarity with allies taking frontline, direct action. We are fun, bold, and creative, using props and costumes to engage people and get our message across.
We meet every Monday (except bank holidays) from 7:30-9:00 pm at our building, the Warehouse, 54-57 Allison Street, Digbeth, Birmingham, B5 5TH.
New people are always welcome and we pride ourselves on being a fun, friendly group. There are opportunities to gain campaigning skills and experience in a relaxed, supportive environment, as well as social activities where you can get to know a great group of people with shared values.
