Do you live in North Wiltshire and would like to help promote environmental issues in Malmesbury, Cricklade, Royal Wootton Bassett and surrounding villages? North Wiltshire Friends of the Earth are mainly based in Chippenham and Calne, but would like to hear from anyone who would be keen to help in areas further north of the county.

Welcome to our latest newsletter.

We have managed to get a copy of the film Trashed which we are planning to show sometime in mid June in Calne in conjunction with Calne Environmental network. This ties up nicely with 2 events – the CEN Green Day & the UK Green film Festival which runs from 1 – 8th June.

A lot of work has been going on over the summer – Birds Marsh wood & the possible ring road, the question of wind turbines in Wiltshire, A large Tesco store coming to Calne & there is still nothing about the possible expansion of Hill’s site at Compton Bassett.

100 Ash Trees for Charlotte's Wood

Another successful tree planting day took place on November 27th when around 100 Ash trees were added to Charlotte's Wood. These will now compliment the 100 Oaks that were planted earlier in the year, and shows that the project is slowly coming together. Future work will include adding Hawthorn to the wood, which will also include more Oak and Ash, and even a glade in the centre.
