Local MPs back Bee Cause campaign (Jul 2013)

Local MPs supporting our campaign for a National Bee Action Plan include Graham Allen (Nottm N), Lilian Greenwood (Nottm S), Vernon Coaker (Gedling) and Chris Leslie (Nottm E).

Graham Allen (centre) dressed as a bee to support the Bee Cause at Bulwell Forest Garden's Bee Day:

Chris Leslie (right) showed his support at Stonebridge City Farm, which has a number of beehives on site:

Other photos of support at Stonebridge can be seen on their Facebook site.

Another local project with working beehives is Summerwood Community Garden in Clifton, where Lilian Greenwood showed her support:

So far, over 200 MPs have supported the campaign. The pressure is paying off. On 28 June 2013 Environment Minister Lord de Mauley announced that the government will follow the lead of the Welsh Assembly government in declaring a National Pollinator Strategy for England.

We wait with interest to see what will be in that strategy. Friends of the Earth wants to see a Plan of Action in place by spring 2014.
