We’re a voluntary group of busy people from different backgrounds. We have a common desire to help create a thriving world for everyone and for the future.
That involves climate change action, working to create a healthy natural environment and a fair economy, and striving for a world where everyone’s needs are met.
We help people provide habitats for bees, free from harmful pesticides. We support local green initiatives like Plastic Bag-Free Cockermouth – as well as more-distant causes such as the anti-fracking protests, particularly in Blackpool.
We've opposed new nuclear stations, advocated for safe stewardship of nuclear waste and shown how our economy can work well without nuclear power. We're also opposing the proposed new coal mine near Whitehaven.
We welcome new members and enjoy the chance to discuss green issues. Our group is very well respected locally, having successfully campaigned on various issues over the years, and our campaigners have won national Friends of the Earth awards for their work.
We keep in touch via email, to inform members and supporters of news, campaigns, and events. We meet in Cockermouth, where we also hold occasional street stalls and host guest speakers. Get in touch with the contact form below.
