MOOvement of millions
Organisations representing millions of people in the UK are urging MPs to back a new meat and dairy law.
On 12 November MPs will be voting on a new law to break the hidden link between animal feed in factory farms and wildlife and rainforest destruction in South America.
The following have joined Friends of the Earth's call for a new law:
- Campaign to Protect Rural England
- New Economics Foundation
- War on Want
- Compassion in World Farming
- Rare Breeds Survival Trust
- GM Freeze
- Guild of Food Writers
- Grasslands Trust
- Permaculture Association
- Sustain's Good for Our Money campaign
- World Development Movement
- Campaign for Real Farming
- National Heart Forum
Supporters are being urged to contact their MP to ask them to vote for the Sustainable Livestock Bill at a debate on 12 November.
100 MPs must be at the debate to ensure the Bill moves to its later stages.
Fix the food chain
Factory farming demands massive amounts of soy - a key ingredient in animal feed. Most of this comes from huge plantations in Latin America.
Our new law would see farmers supported to graze their animals and feed them a home grown diet.
