Commenting on a study of long-term weather records, published today [Thursday 20 March 2014],  which suggests that recent flooding in the south of England could signal the onset of climate change, Friends of the Earth’s Head of Policy Mike Childs said:
“Experts predict that we face more frequent floods and storms, like those that battered Britain this winter, as climate change takes hold.
“Ministers must do far more to cut emissions and ensure that spending on flood defences takes proper account of the anticipated impact of climate change.
“The Prime Minister and his Chancellor keep promising to act, but this week’s ‘carry on polluting’ Budget speaks far louder about Government priorities.”
