Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth

Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth is an environmental campaign group which campaigns for solutions to environmental problems and challenges issues that we feel are threatening the communities we live in.

Our campaigns

We campaign on a mix of local, national, and international issues including air pollution, litter, open cast mining, renewable energy, sustainable transport, plastic pollution, and the climate crisis. We hold monthly meetings, run street stalls and film nights, organise environmental public talks and election hustings, do beach and street cleans, and organise protests and petitions.

We lobby our local councils and MP for positive change to our environment and link with other environmental and social action groups, both in Northumberland and beyond. We also work to green the areas we live in by developing community gardens and tree planting schemes.

Get involved

We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30 pm (new venue to be confirmed) and we’re always happy to welcome new people to the group – whether you want to become more active in a particular campaign, help out at the occasional event, or simply to learn more about the issues.
