Leicester Friends of the Earth

Leicester Friends of the Earth is an environmental campaign group.

We take action on a range of local, national and international issues including climate change, fossil fuel extraction, renewable energy, sustainable transport, biodiversity and waste.

We work with other environmental and social action groups in Leicester (facilitated at our Campaigners Lunches) and always bring some creativity to our campaigning.

Our campaigns

We have campaigned for more action on air pollution, for the end of fracking and investment in fossil fuels, for action on single-use plastics, to protect trees in Leicester and to raise awareness of the link between climate change and migration.

We hold monthly meetings, street stalls and festivals (often with a creative action alongside, like building a cardboard wind turbine!), host film showings, organise protests, respond to policy consultations and meet with politicians.

Get involved

We meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm at the Regent Social Club on Regent Road.

We’re always happy to welcome new people to the group – campaigning takes many forms and there is a place for everyone, whether you want to talk to members of the public and politicians, write blog posts or help with the quiet, organising jobs behind the scenes.

'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.' Attributed to Margaret Mead
