About Us

When and Where

We usually meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month in Cockermouth at 7.30pm.

Our next meeting is our AGM at 7 pm on Weds Feb 28th at the Friends Meeting House Kirkgate Cockermouth followed by an Open Meeting at 8pm on PLASTICS with Nigel Jenkins & colleagues from Penrith Action for Community Transition (PACT)

We are always delighted to welcome new members, but please email first in case we have to cancel a meeting for any reason so you don't make a wasted journey.

We have recently campaigned to protect and encourage bees by trying to reduce local availability of neonicotinoids (implicated in the decline of bee numbers) in local Garden Centres.

About this Group

We campaign on a range of green issues. Our location in West Cumbria means we do a lot of work on nuclear waste (we have most of the UK's waste here at the Sellafield site) and renewables. We have a website dedicated to ideas and policies - both local and global - about how Cumbria could flourish without reliance on new nuclear power.

Visit it at   -- it's regularly updated and you'll find a host of great initiatives there.
