We're facing a climate emergency
Climate breakdown is affecting us all. Floods wash away homes, livelihoods and wildlife. Wildfires are raging. Polar icecaps are melting. Tragically, it's those doing the least to cause this crisis that are least able to weather the storms.
Millions of the world's poorest people are displaced while big businesses and politicians continue to pour fuel on the fire.
Time is running out in the fight to protect people and planet. But there’s still an opportunity to change our future – if we act now.

Our supporters have helped achieve milestone victories and establish key laws for our planet. Like launching the Climate Change Act 2008 - the world’s first climate change law – which paved the way for similar legislation around the world.
Thanks to our supporters, we’re currently:
✔️ Demanding better climate protection. Since 2022 we’ve beaten the UK government twice in court over its Net Zero strategies. These strategies weren’t good enough and didn’t show how we’d make the necessary carbon cuts to meet the country’s legally binding reduction targets. Our lawyers and campaigners continue to hold our leaders to account and are calling for more ambitious plans so that we reduce our carbon emissions in a fair way.
✔️ Fighting dirty fossil fuels. We’re challenging the government’s approval of fossil fuel projects and fighting plans for a coal mine in Whitehaven, Cumbria. We’ve also helped put a stop to an important oil drilling project in Surrey that could strengthen our case against the coal mine. Now we’re calling for a ban on any new fossil fuel projects.
✔️ Preventing airport expansions. We’ve taken the government to court in our ongoing legal challenge to prevent a climate-wrecking third runway at Heathrow.
