Guidance for executors of wills
If you’re the executor for the estate of someone who generously decided to leave Friends of the Earth a gift in their will, thank you. It’s not an easy job but we really appreciate you doing it, often at a very difficult time, and we’re so grateful to our supporters who choose to remember us this way.
It's important that you contact our legacy administrator Virginia about the gift, as she's the only person at Friends of the Earth authorised to receipt legacies, so it’s important that you get in touch about the gift so that we can make sure we follow the correct procedures.
To contact Virginia please email [email protected] and she’ll get back to you. Please note Virginia works part time, so it may not be the same day.
You can make payment of the gift by electronic bank transfer or cheque.
Bank transfer
If you’d like to make the payment by bank transfer then please contact Virginia by emailing [email protected] and provide:
- The name and most recent address of the person who has left Friends of the Earth a gift.
- Your name and address if you’re the executor.
- A copy of the will, or just the excerpt that names Friends of the Earth in it if that’s easier. This is to help us follow our auditing requirements.
Virginia will get back to you with our bank details and a reference to use when making the transfer so we can easily identify it when it arrives.
Cheque
If you’d like to make the payment by cheque, then please address it to "Friends of the Earth Charitable Trust" (unless the gift is for Limited, in which case please address it to "Friends of the Earth Ltd") and send it to:
FAO Legacy Administration, Friends of the Earth
The Printworks, 139 Clapham Road
London SW9 0HP
Please include the following information along with the cheque:
- The name and most recent address of the person who has left Friends of the Earth a gift.
- Your name and address if you’re the executor.
- A copy of the will, or just the excerpt that names Friends of the Earth in it if that’s easier. This is to help us follow our auditing requirements.
If you have any further questions or there’s anything else that we can help with, please email [email protected].
