Global leaders must take action to stop the climate crisis.
We must act now to hold them accountable.
Every continent is now feeling the devastating impact of climate change.
Extreme weather events are destroying the lives and livelihoods of millions, whilst harmful pollutants threaten our fresh air, clean water, and the natural world that looks after us.
Worse still, those who have contributed the least to the dangerously high levels of carbon emissions in our atmosphere are bearing the brunt of these catastrophic consequences.
And yet, world leaders are still dragging their feet.
If you’re feeling angry, frustrated or scared, you are not alone.
And there is hope.
By supporting our work with a donation, you become a part of the largest grassroots environmental campaigning organisation in the world. Friends of the Earth has over 2 million supporters in 73 countries, with a legacy of climate activism that spans across more than 50 years.
We equip communities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland with the tools and expertise they need to make change happen.
We lobby the UK government to make decisions that protect our environment - and hold them accountable when their choices put people and planet at risk.
We stand in solidarity with international partners, helping them to protect environmental activists from their oppressors.
Join Friends of the Earth today and help us to shape a cleaner, greener and fairer future – for our planet and everyone on it.
Here's what 50 years of campaigning success looks like
We banned UK fracking
After more than a decade of pressure from our campaigning with local communities, the UK government announced a moratorium on fracking in 2019. And when Liz Truss’s cabinet proposed a lifting of this moratorium in 2022, we squashed it again.
We won better climate protection
In 2022 our legal team won a key court case against the UK government over their unlawful Net Zero Strategy, citing the Climate Change Act which we helped to make law in 2008. Now, the government must create a better plan for reducing carbon emissions – and we’ll be ready to scrutinise it when it does.
We prevented harmful oil fields
Vital campaigning work with other grassroots groups and NGOs, including Friends of the Earth Scotland, forced fossil fuel giant Shell to abandon plans for the Cambo oil field off the coast of Shetland, Scotland in 2021. That’s 800 million barrels of oil that are still in the ground, thanks to people like you.
