Why Money Movers Champions?

We know that people are much more likely to take action when they get together with their friends or colleagues. Peer support — plus some friendly accountability — works.

People are also more likely to feel confident taking action when an invitation comes from someone they already know and trust, and when they can see other people like them doing the same thing.

Our Money Movers programme has supported hundreds of people to move their money. We’re now helping those people step forward to inspire others to do the same.

What Money Movers Champions do

Each champion commits to setting up, promoting, and running at least one workshop in their social circle or community. They’re not committing to hosting a Money Movers group – they’ve mostly already done that – but they are aiming to inspire others to give it a go. Workshops can be in-person or online. Champions decide how the session runs and how they want to shape the space.

We’ll also support them with:

  • A shared WhatsApp group for peer support and troubleshooting.
  • A light-touch resource pack covering the basics of hosting, key messages and a simple slide template (as well as access to all the resources on the Hub).
  • The Champions Workshop Fund: grants of up to £250 to support creative session formats: zine-making, film screenings, community meals, and more.
  • A £50 thank-you from our online shop for any Champion who creates and shares content about their experience.

Who are the Money Movers Champions?

Money Movers champions are people who have previously hosted or taken part in Money Movers sessions and want to go a step further. They already understand the programme and have a feel for how to hold a conversation about money and climate. They are not financial experts and they do not provide any financial advice.
