Understanding our impact

Our daily habits are shaped by, and help reinforce, the world around us.

Many of us are keen to make planet-friendly and ethical choices when it comes to how and what we consume. This is more important than ever, given the devastating impacts consumption, and particularly overconsumption, can have on our climate, ecosystems, habitats and communities.

While it’s not up to individuals alone to solve the climate and nature crises – these are problems that governments and big corporations must address to create the biggest impact – understanding how we interact with these systems and structures can help us put pressure on those in power to drive real change.

How to do it:

  1. Choose one category: clothes, food, travel or tech.
  2. Look up ethical alternatives or local options. Not sure about what’s ethical? Read our guide to help you spot tell the real green products from the duds.
  3. Start off with just 1 conscious swap. And vow to commit to it. Track your progress in our template.

Take on a bold challenge and ask others to join you too. We tried to quit single-use plastic for an entire month. It was certainly eye-opening. See how it went, what we learned and why it mattered.

Could you think of something like this too?
