Responding to attacks today on 'net zero' and the UK's climate targets by leading Conservative Party leader hopefuls, Friends of the Earth climate campaigner, Danny Gross said:

“Protecting the climate is about conserving our planet for future generations. There’s nothing conservative about trashing the planet.

“Binding climate targets are a crucial part of the Conservative Party’s legacy. David Cameron supported the Climate Change Act and, when in power, the Conservative government went onto strengthen it.

“Business leaders have been clear that the UK should accelerate towards net zero. Turning away from these crucial targets would be anti-growth, anti-business and anti-conservative.”
