Gift Aid Tick the box and do even more to build a fairer and greener future, for everyone

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows registered charities like Friends of the Earth to claim back the basic tax you’ve already paid on your donations. That means your donations will be increased by 25% at no extra cost to you.

When you tick the box, we can claim back an extra 25 pence on every £1 you’ve donated over the last 4 years and for all your future eligible donations. Find out which donations are eligible below.

What difference can Gift Aid make?

Last year we claimed over £1.1 million in Gift Aid from generous supporters like you, without costing them a penny.

These crucial funds:

  • Helped our campaigners pressure the government to build a greener and fairer future
  • Supported our lawyers to take on ground-breaking legal cases to help stop fossil fuel projects from going ahead
  • Mobilised our local action groups to lobby their MPs and influence the shape of what’s to come
You can be part of this. Tick the box and make your Gift Aid declaration today.

Your Gift Aid statement

I want to Gift Aid my eligible donations to Friends of the Earth Charitable Trust, including future donations and any donations made either within the past four years or since the start date I have indicated. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less income tax and/or Capital Gains tax in a tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.

This means you’re not currently eligible for Gift Aid, but may become eligible in future. If you select this option Friends of the Earth may contact you about your Gift Aid status again in the future.

This means you’ll never be eligible for Gift Aid (for example, if you’re retired or unable to work). If you select this option Friends of the Earth will not contact you about your Gift Aid status again.

You will need to update your answer to 'No, I am not currently a UK taxpayer' if you are not currently paying tax.

Is my donation eligible?

Yes, if you’re a UK taxpayer. Or if you pay tax on one or more of the following:

  • A personal or occupational pension.
  • Bank and building society savings accounts.
  • Rental income.
  • Overseas and UK investment dividends.
  • Stock and shares.

If you pay income tax above the basic rate, you must include all your eligible Gift Aid donations on your self-assessment tax return if you want to receive the additional tax relief due to you. If you donate with a partner or someone else, please sign up to Gift Aid using the details of just one eligible person.
