Friends of the Earth stands in solidarity with the Muslim community following this week’s frightening security incident at Manchester Central Mosque and a suspected arson attack at Worcester Muslim Welfare Association’s community centre. Both have taken place during the holy month of Ramadan.

We are witnessing a rise in Islamophobic incidents, accompanied by a hostile narrative in some media and from some politicians, which is fuelling hatred against Muslims.

Friends of the Earth rejects Islamophobia and all forms of racism, hatred and division. As an environmental and social justice organisation, we believe it is vital to speak out against Islamophobia and all forms of racism and division.

We stand with the Muslim community and we will be at the Together Alliance demonstration on Saturday 28 March. This will bring together people from all walks of life, all faiths and none, to demonstrate our unity and to reject hatred and division.
