COP30: What happened at the UN climate talks

This year's United Nations climate talks (also known as COP30, or the UN climate summit) took place from 10 to 22 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil. The talks came at a crucial time for climate action. The choices governments make now will shape our collective future for generations.  

The negotiations were fraught. And rich countries really had to be dragged to the table kicking and screaming to reach the outcome we have today.
