Subject: Urgent action needed on [specific local issue] in [your area]

Dear [councillor/MP name],

I live in [your area] and I’ve been looking at data from Friends of the Earth’s Near You tool. One thing that stood out to me is that [insert key fact from the tool, eg. our area has one of the lowest rates of home insulation in the region].

This is an urgent concern for our community. I’m asking you to:

  • [Insert 1–2 specific actions they could take, eg. push for more funding for home insulation.

I want to make sure you're representing the concerns of [your area] and you're advocating for cutting emissions and improving our lives.

As my elected representative, I hope you’ll make this a priority and let me know what action you will take.

I look forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely,
[Your name]
[Your address] (optional but recommended)

That’s it. After a simple search and a quick email, you've taken action for your local community from the comfort of your home.

...being able to speak to our MP, somebody who can really make a difference, really gives you a feeling that we’re not powerless. There really are things that we can do.
