Switching to green energy is cheaper & easier than you think
Switching to a green energy supplier is cheaper and easier than you think, says Friends of the Earth. New online polling found that nearly two thirds of people who don’t currently use green energy said they would be interested in changing supplier (64%).
But when asked about barriers to switching 63% said green electricity being more expensive than their current supplier would be a blocker, whilst 38% said that if the process was too confusing it would put them off. A further 21% said not knowing which green energy supplier to use, would also be off-putting.
To help remove these blockers, Friends of the Earth has researched the best green energy suppliers out there and made switching easier. From the super green to the budget-friendly, Friends of the Earth reveals its top green energy suppliers: Ecotricity, Good Energy and Octopus Energy. You can switch in as little as 5 minutes, and you don't need meter readings to get started.
As an extra incentive for all switches that take place in November, you’ll get up to £50 credit on your account and the suppliers will top-up with a donation to Friends of the Earth to fight climate change.
Aaron Kiely, Friends of the Earth climate campaigner, said:
“Most people in the UK want to do something about the climate crisis but aren’t always sure where to start. We need action from the government to help end the use of climate-wrecking fossil fuels, but we can help too by making simple changes to our homes and lives.”
Fiona Whyte, who made the switch earlier this year, said:
“Switching to a green energy supplier is often cheaper and easier than you think. I found it really quick to make the change, and it’s nice to know you’re doing something good with your money.
“If everyone in the UK was using green energy, we could lead the way in making climate-polluting fossil fuels extinct. Why not give it a try?”
