This action is now closed.

We asked you to send us your reasons for opposing Heathrow. We then displayed them on paper planes (made from 100% recycled paper) outside the High Court at the start of the trial.

It was an eye-catching way to show public opposition to airport expansion on climate change grounds.

Airport expansion will undermine efforts to keep global warming below 1.5°C – scientists have warned about the dangerous consequences for people and the planet if we go over that.

We marked the start of the trial with 2 rallies outside the Royal Courts of Justice.

Thanks to your paper-plane messages, we were able to show that it isn't just people living close to Heathrow who are concerned about the third runway.

We’re taking the government to court for failing to take climate change seriously. Last year it granted permission for a new runway at Heathrow airport – already the UK’s single biggest source of climate-wrecking emissions.
