Wales has declared a climate emergency
Extreme weather caused by climate breakdown has led to increased death and destruction around the world. From record-breaking heatwaves to deadly flash floods, the livelihoods of millions hang by a thread.
The window of opportunity is still open to halt irreversible climate disaster but we need action on all fronts.
The Welsh government shares our determination to tackle climate change, but we’re ready to show them how. From advocating for clean energy policies to supporting climate research and education across the nation. We’re campaigning for a greener, safer Wales and you can help.

In Wales we’re working with passionate local groups to demand urgent climate action
Fighting dirty fossil fuels
We’re supporting local communities to oppose new fossil fuel projects and calling on local authorities to move their investments out of dirty energy as part of a global campaign for fossil fuel divestment.
Creating greener transport
Transport in Wales contributes 17% of the nation’s total annual carbon emissions. After decades of road campaigning alongside our network, in 2023 the Welsh Government scrapped all major road building projects. Now we’re calling for targets to double the number of journeys made by walking, cycling and public transport by 2030.
Promoting sustainable fashion
Wales has the potential become world a leader in sustainable fashion. To make this happen we’re calling for a microplastics action plan and business support for small sustainable fashion enterprises in Wales.
Clean Air for Wales
Everyone should be able to safely walk down the road and not have worry about the damaging effects to their health. Air pollution contributes to over 2,000 deaths a year in Wales, and our research shows people on the lowest incomes in Wales are breathing in the most polluted air.
In a historic moment for Wales, Friends of the Earth Cymru and other supporters of Healthy Air Cymru campaigned to get clean air legislation. Now with your help we will make sure a strong new law is passed which will reduce air pollution levels and protect the lives of people for generations to come.
