Horse Hill oil drilling
Intervening in the Supreme Court, supporting campaigner Sarah Finch’s legal challenge against plans for oil drilling in the Surrey countryside. The burning of oil would lead to an estimated equivalent of over 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.
Whitehaven coal mining
We’re taking legal action against the UK government following its recent decision to grant planning permission for a new coal mine in Cumbria - this when scientists have delivered the starkest warning yet about fossil fuel projects increasing the frequency of extreme weather. We were one of the main opponents of the mine at the planning inquiry in September 2021, and filed our new legal challenge in January 2023.
Protecting Northern Ireland
Across Northern Ireland greedy mining and dredging companies are circling like gold diggers in the old Wild West. Their only interest? Profit. They want to dig up farmland to search for minerals and building materials. Our lawyers are taking action and demanding a strong, independent environmental protection agency is finally created in Northern Ireland.
