1 minFollowing the publication of an EAC report into UK Export Finance (which investigates the scale and impact of UK Export Finance’s financing of fossil fuels in developing countries) Mike Childs, head of science at Friends of the Earth, said:
“We’ve heard our government’s shouting from the rooftops around ambition on emissions reduction in the UK, but for too long this has simply meant outsourcing a lot of high carbon projects overseas. You don’t solve a crisis by simply moving it somewhere else to make your own numbers look good. Climate breakdown is a global crisis that is already hitting the most vulnerable communities the hardest, so it’s crucial that UK finance is divested completely from planet-wrecking fossil fuels.”
