Gift Aid

One of the most effective ways to maximise your giving is by signing up for Gift Aid. With Gift Aid, every £1 you donate allows us to claim an extra 25 pence from the government. And there’s no cost to you – all you need to do is complete one form.

If you pay a higher rate of income tax (40% or above), you could be entitled to a tax rebate on your donation, worth the difference between the basic rate of tax and your higher rate.

For the latest information, see the government's guidance on Gift Aid. And please see our Gift Aid page for more details.

Giving shares

Donating shares to Friends of the Earth can potentially have tax advantages for you, as well as supporting our crucial work. You can either transfer shares to Friends of the Earth or sell them on our behalf.

Please contact us for more information at [email protected] or call Cathy O'Rourke on 020 7566 1602.

Payroll Giving

With Payroll Giving, also called "Give As You Earn," donations are taken from your salary before tax is deducted. For more details, please see the government's guidance on Payroll Giving.

Donor Advised Funds

We happily accept donations through Donor Advised Funds (CAF etc). Please contact us at [email protected] or call Cathy O'Rourke on 020 7566 1602 if you’d like to discuss giving through this method.

Gifts in wills

Make a world of difference for generations to come, and extend your support for our work beyond your lifetime. More and more of our supporters are choosing to include Friends of the Earth in their will. You'll not only ensure your values and care for the planet live on, but there can also be benefits to your estate as well.

If you leave money to a charity in your will, the gift will be taken off the value of your estate before Inheritance Tax is calculated. If you leave more than 10% of your estate to charity, it'll reduce your Inheritance Tax rate from 40% to 36%.

Be a Friend of the Earth forever, and find out more about how to leave a gift in your will.
