Urgent appeal: demand stronger climate plans now

Breaking: the government has just announced plans to set fire to several vital climate policies.

The government’s own climate advisors said its existing climate plans aren’t good enough. Now Prime Minister Sunak wants to weaken them further.

We need bold ambition and credible proposals. We need urgent and practical action on energy, transport and homes.

Fossil fuel sites revealed

We've mapped out the fossil fuel sites across England and Wales. 92 active oil and gas sites, with 279 operating wells between them, and 3 opencast coal mines.

Astonishingly there are 19 sites planning new activity. Bringing more oil, gas and coal out of the ground. This is totally incompatible with the UK's climate targets. We're fighting with local communities to challenge some of these decisions in court.

Our local group Manchester Friends of the Earth talked to 100s of Coldplay gig-goers about our Planet over Profit campaign.

We're asking for a new law to hold companies to account for the damage their supply chains cause to communities and habitats overseas.

Working with campaigners from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Netherlands, we're talking directly to big business. And companies like Unilever are listening.
