We’re delighted to be partnering with Grand Designs Live to showcase how innovative design can be good for people, nature and planet.
Emi Murphy, Trees Campaigner
Following last year's successful plastics theme, Grand Designs Live 2019 is all about getting more nature into our lives.
And it's supporting our campaign to double UK tree cover.
The design of our homes, workplaces, streets and more can play a big part in making more space for nature.

What is Grand Designs Live?
It's a live version of the hugely successful Channel 4 programme Grand Designs, presented by Kevin McCloud. It’s a chance to be inspired by leading designers and architects, to browse the latest trends for the home and get expert advice for your own grand plans. Head to their website to see the full programme.
What will Friends of the Earth be doing at Grand Designs Live?
Meet the staff at Friends of the Earth. We'll be in the Wildlife Forest (the garden section at the exhibition) providing demos of wildlife-hotels on Sunday 12 May.
Curious? Pop over and find out what it's all about – we'll be testing your nature knowledge and asking you about nature in your local area.
You'll also find us taking part in panel discussions about the importance of sustainable design.
Why is Grand Designs Live focusing on nature?
Nature is essential to our lives – from the food on our plates to the clothes we wear, from medicines to mental health benefits.
Yet the latest UK State of Nature report shows that over half our wild plants, insects and birds are in decline.
We've put together a campaign to help make more space for nature at this year's show.
If you're about to embark on an eco-friendly project, the show is packed with green products, free eco advice, activities and talks – everything you need to ensure you're doing your part to protect and enhance the nature in your garden.
What is Friends of the Earth doing about nature?
Friends of the Earth has been campaigning on nature for nearly 50 years. To find out more about our latest Trees campaign read our article on why we need to double tree cover across the UK.
